  • Monitor trends, deducing why certain books out-sell others and what promotions encourage higher sales.

I developed the marketing campaigns for our three original titles. Duties included:

  • Hiring and working with a design firm to create the company website, writing the onsite copy and optimizing the website for SEO keywords.

  • Developing a budget for internet advertising.

  • Managing the Google Ad Words Campaigns and the Facebook Ad Campaigns.

  • Operated social media accounts including the Twitter and Facebook accounts which each gained 2,500 followers in our first six months.

  • Writing copy for advertisements and catalog solicitations.

  • Project managing our cover artists and book designer for in-issue advertisements.

 

President - WE Comics, LLC

Under WE Comics, I published three comic book titles:

  • Triage by Mairghread Scott and Candace Ellis, which was optioned by Golden Apple Productions.

  • Jimmy Brass, Second Grade Detective by Jake Dickerman and Jason Pruett, which was bought by Golden Apple Publishing to be made into an original graphic novel.

  • How I Spent My Summer Invasion by Patrick Rieger and Mark Wilson, which we published for five issues and collected into a graphic novel.

 

My duties included:

  • Managing new talent and keeping the creative team on schedule.

  • Reaching out to press sites for coverage and reviews, including ComicBooked.com, GirlsReadComics.com and International House of Geek.

  • Developing partnerships with local stores to carry our comics in their retail space.

  • Managing project budgets and seeking out new financing opportunities including a successful Kickstarter campaign.

 
Manager - Emerald Knights Comics & Games

July 2010 - August 2012

 

I managed a local comic book and game store where my duties included:

  • Developing a social media presence on Facebook and Twitter (@EKComics), which led to 500+ fans of the store on each of these profiles and drastically increased traffic to the store’s website.

  • Organizing store events including comic book signings with DC Comics, Image Comics, and Archaia Entertainment and game tournaments such as Magic: the Gathering and Pathfinder Society; and social events such as Comics & Coffee, a weekly book club which hosted special guests Mark Waid (Daredevil), Joe Kelly and Steven Seagle (Man of Action Studios).

  • Community outreach including working with local schools to host educational events and establishing a partnership with the Shriners Hospital for a charity event which raised $4,000 in contributions from DC Comics, G4TV, Geek and Sundry, Archaia and more.
